Based
in Ubud, Bali, Gemala
offers a unique combination of traditional
skills and contempory design.
Our bilingual staff is trained to
international standards.
CEO
Janet Molloy was born in Melbourne,
Australia. Her flair for design surfaced
early and she worked in the woman's
garment industry, trained as a professional
chef and studied hotel management.
Moving to Bali in 1988 after many
visits, Janet gave rein to her entrepreneurship
and established two restaurants, a
clothing boutique and a clothing wholesale
business. In 1992 she opened Jani
Silver, determined to create a landmark
company that would produce high quality,
international-level design while treating
its employees and the environment
with respect.

Who
We Are
Established in 1992, Gemala
is a world class organization that competes
in the global marketplace while respecting
the local culture. Although surrounded by
rice fields, our factories incorporate the
latest information technologies and human
resource systems. At Gemala Hindus, Buddhists,
Muslims and Christians work harmoniously
together, with many women in senior management
positions.
What
We Do
Gemala’s exclusive silver collections
reflect the many dimensions of the Bali
experience. Motifs and colorways evoke the
enchantment of a walk in a Balinese rice
field, a tranquil lotus pond, a picnic in
a bamboo grove or a ritual temple offering.
Our designers constantly create new concepts,
then match them with gemstones that mirror
the collections’ hues and moods. Every
piece is meticulously hand-crafted from
sterling silver by skilled artisans.
